TAMMY BLAIR
Owner
Tammy is the founder of Sunshrine Day Spa
& Salon. Tammy’s involvement
with esthetics and management for the past 11 years has give her a wealth
of knowledge and resources in business and marketing and enabled her to
run her own business over the last 7 years. Her continued success has led her to be approved by
Canada’s Licensing Division as an Education Center and therefore will be
developing an Academy for licensing hairdressers with extraordinary
education.
Tammy has effectively created from nothing,
Sunshrine’s large team of talented professionals. Her leadership and kindness has
provided salon professionals with the tools to take their vision to the
next level. Tammy’s staff has
enjoyed key results from their experience of the powerful work
environment at Sunshrine Day Spa & Salon. She makes sure that her staff is exposed to all of the
latest trends and all the of the most up to date technology and
treatments that she can get her hands on. For this reason Tammy empowers her staff to attend as many
trade shows as possible every year; trade shows such as Spa
International, Medical Show, ABA, Tim Heartly, Paulo (Eva Garden),
Anthony Mascolo, Wella’s Future Vision.
Tammy herself attends seminars such as Teri Cowen, Raymond Aaron,
Donald Trump, Anthony Robins, Laurie Langmire, Jeff Gray, & Bill
Clinton just to name a
few. The staffs continuously
travels internationally and nationally for their advanced education and
you will find if you look closely, that the staff also competes for some
of Canada’s top hairdressing awards!
In addition to being a 7 time Award winning
Spa & Salon, Sunshrine has been published nationally in many
articles, including Modern Salon, Salon Today, Salon News, & the
front cover of Kawartha Women’s Magazine. Making Tammy a very proud Salon & Spa owner.
Tammy herself is a licensed estheticians and
on occasions you will find her servicing a client; it is with that
dedication she participates in all the education her staff partakes in,
from business seminars to hair coloring and cutting classes and more!
Tammy has recently begun supporting local
salon owners with the challenges of their businesses because of her
commitment to people’s success.
Through ESON (Eufora’s Salon Owners Network) Tammy has found
herself as a featured speaker, motivator, teacher, and facilitator for
salon owner meetings to empower the salon industries community. As you will find, Tammy has an
engaging manner and puts her audiences and clients at ease quickly.
Community involvement is very important to
Tammy and for that reason she also sits on the board of directors for the Kawartha Chamber of Commerce, and is currently developing a project
for the Lakefield Primary Health care Campaign (Medical Center). Tammy is continuously doing fundraisers
for the community.
Tammy is madly in love with
her husband and co-owner Ryan. They have two gorgeous children at
home, Marcus 5 years old and Brianna 3 years old.

RHONDA HOCKADAY
Artistic Director/Master Hair Stylist
Rhonda has been a valuable asset to the Sunshrine team since 2004 when
they expanded into hair. Rhonda loves cutting, designing & education.
She is an expert in all areas. She has been titled Artistic Director for
her ambition & impressive educational background. She is favorably known for her ability to utilize her blow dryer. Although cutting a shape
to emphasize clients best features & natural texture is her
specialty.
Rhonda had been in the industry for 15 years and is committed to the
profession that has intrigued her from childhood. She started her career
in Ottawa working in one of
the top salon/spas in the downtown core. She learned to value education
traveling to academies from Toronto
to Montreal. Rhonda moved
back to Lakefield to start her family & continue her career in hair.
She was fortunate to meet the owners of Sunshrine who shared a vision
& passion for making people feel & look beautiful. Rhonda is
thrilled to see the growth & demand for talented stylists in her
hometown. Recently traveling to California
for advanced training she met stylists & salon owners from all over North
America who were impressed by the success of Sunshrine.

Our Artistic Director/Master Hair Stylist Rhonda Hockaday placed second in
Eufora's Make-Over Division. Rhonda is also a master at Great
Lengths 100% real hair extensions. Jodie Ferguson was Rhonda's
make-up artist in the Eufora competition.

SHERI HOCKADAY
Master Hair Stylist
Sheri has been with Sunshrine since it opened its doors at their new
location on Queen Street
in 2004. She is a Master Stylist & important team member. She brings
knowledge & experience in all areas. She particularly loves being
creative in colour. Her colour techniques recently placed her 3rd in
Colour Masters at Toronto Metro
Academy. Sheri has been a
stylist for 22 years in Lakefield. In those years she has accomplished a
successful career maintaining a large clientele. But is always welcoming
new guests into her chair. She loves the challenge of creating new looks
for anyone! Sheri was even a salon owner but found the demand of running
a business took away from her creativity & consumed valuable time
that could be spent on her clients.
Sheri’s new passion is to be an educator for Eufora! She wants to share
talents with other stylists. With all her experiences she had a lot to
offer, she is also in the perfect stage of her life to do the traveling
that it acquired all over North America.

professionals that work hard to educate themselves & their guests!”
Recently, Sheri Hockaday placed first in Eufora's
International Stylist of the Year Award in the Avant-Garde division.
Sheri and fellow stylists have traveled to California for advanced
training. Jodi Murphy was Sheri's make-up artist. Sheri, a
member of the Sunshrine team since 2004, brings knowledge and experience
in all areas, loves the challenge of creating new looks for everyone, and
particularly loves being creative with colour. Her techniques
recently placed her 3rd in Colour Masters at Toronto Metro Academy.

CASSANDRA McCOMB
Senior Hair Stylist
Cassandra has been a Sunshrine team member since May 2004. Her love for
hair began at an early age while playing hairdresser with friends. Her
passion for hair styling grew, leading her to enroll in hair program at St.Lawrence
College in Kingston.
Through placements she found a funky & trendy salon where she then
did her required 2000 apprenticeship hours. Kingston
was a great start to Cassandra’s career & upon passing her 3 levels
of Government exams to obtain her hair styling license, she then made the
decision to move home to family & friends. Her return to her hometown
of Havelock allowed her to
accept an opportunity with Sunshrine. She fit in perfectly when she
realized how up-beat & friendly everyone at the salon was!
Since working in Lakefield, Cassandra has met many friendly people who
she loves helping create the perfect look or style for. Sunshrine is
located in the heart of the Kawartha’s providing beautiful settings for
weddings. This means UP-DO’s...this is Cassandra’s true passion, &
Martin Parsons has been an inspiration for Cassandra’s creativity for a
picture perfect wedding day! Sunshrine has given Cassandra the
opportunity to keep up with the latest trends through attending Metro
Academy courses. Cassandra’s
very upbeat personality & desire to please her clients & striving
to do well, is what lets her succeed in her career.
Cassandra firmly believes “when you stop learning, you stop growing.”

Cassandra McComb Hair Stylist,
competed against hundreds of other stylists at Wella Canada
International's Trend Vision Competition. As the regional
representative for Ontario, Cassandra now holds the distinct recognition
of being among the Top 10 Hair stylist in Canada. Had Cassandra won,
she would have traveled to Spain to represent Canada. Jodi Murphy
was Cassandra's make-up artist. Sunshrine has given Cassandra the
opportunity to keep up with the latest trends through attending Metro
Academy courses. Her very upbeat personality and desire to
please her clients and striving to do well is what lets her succeed in her
career.

DENISE MANLEY
Senior Hair Stylist
Denise has been an important asset to the Sunshrine team since 2004. Her
creativity allows her to bring out people’s natural beauty. She
demonstrates this with her skills in hair cutting, styling &
colouring, as well as hair extensions & make-up artistry. She has
also shown these attributes in national competitions.
Denise is from the Peterborough
area, which is where she began her training as a hair stylist. Although
she moved to Toronto to
expand her knowledge of big city fashions, but knew that home was where
she wanted a career. Denise also attends cutting, colouring, up-do’s
& make-up artistry courses regularly.
“Making people feel beautiful is not my passion…my passion is showing
people how beautiful they really are!”

JULIE MORRISSEY
Salon Manager/Intermediate Hair Stylist
Julie has been an important team
member, with Sunshrine since 2005. She has received 2 promotions in
less than a year. Truly showing that her passion for this industry
is real. Julie loves to learn new skills & techniques; she
loves utilizing her cutting skills in texturizing, personalizing and
shaping cuts.
Julie began as an assistant and
discovered a passion that inspired her to become a hairstylist. In
that year Julie advanced with Wella Colour Masters, Advanced Toni &
Guy courses, and competitive work entering 2007 Canadian Young Protégé
competition placing top 6 in all of Canada, and then an impressive win of
second place in the finals in Toronto. The top leader in the salon
has give Julie acknowledgement as Salon Manager, directing and
maintaining inventory and retail learning the business inside &
out. There isn't enough that Julie can learn about this business,
she strives for perfection in her trade.
“If you love what you do, your
passion will be shown in your profession”.
Julie loves that a simple technique
of cutting or colour placement can change someone’s appearance for
looking younger, trendy or more modern.
Julie entered the 2007 Canadian Young Protégé competition and placed Top
6 in Canada. and then and impressive second place finish in the finals in
Toronto.

EMILY PRITCHARD
Hair Stylist
Emily is a recent addition to the Sunshrine family. She got hooked
on hair in High School through the Co-operative Education Program.
After graduation she went on to apprentice in Peterborough. Then
followed her dream of becoming a stylist by attending Hair Dressing
Academy, graduating top of her class in 2002. Currently she is
participating in Wella's Colour Masters program, as well as attending
Vidal Sassons "Classic" Course.
Emily's
specialty is Updo's. She loves creating that "special look for
an important occasion in someone's life". She also enjoys
creating new styles for men. Emily is constantly shriving to gain
more knowledge in the hair world & lovers to absorb the useful wisdom
of her fellow employees.

ANGE YOUNG
Hair Apprentice/Assistant
Ange
started full-time in August 2007 here at Sunshrine. Ange choose to
do her apprenticeship with Sunshrine and started with us in December 2006
through to July 2007. She's been doing hair for as long as she can
remember, from Up-do's on friends to playing around with colors and
styles, she's never lost her passion! In High School, Ange took 3
years of hairstyling courses and passed with Honors every year. When she
graduated, she received both the Hair & Apprenticeship Awards!
This made her realize that she could make a career out of her
passion. She went on to St. Lawrence College Hairstyling Program,
where she graduated again with Honors. She also graduated from
Fleming College from their Make-up Artistry Course.
Ange
enjoys creating funky, fun, new & fresh hair & make-up
styles. Currently she is taking Wella's Color Masters Course and
plans to further her education and Sunshrine is the perfect place for
that!

JODI MURPHY
Senior Esthetician / Reflexologist / Permanent Make-up Artist
Jodi Murphy has been an important
part of Sunshrine's team as an Esthetician and Reflexologist since the
beginning of 2006. She loves all aspects of esthetics, particularly
enjoys doing creative work with nail art and make-up.
Jodi graduated with honors at Sir
Sandford Fleming College in the Esthetics & Reflexology program.
She also participated in the Eva Garden make-up course at Sunshrine and
has her Eufora PHD.
"I love Esthetics because it is
rewarding when it comes to assisting others to look and feel good about
themselves."
She is looking forward to
further her education to bring your latest trends and to keep up with
industry standards so that she can give her guest the service they need to
fulfill their day.
Recently Jodi has helped three
stylists place in competitions with her talented make-up abilities on
their award winning models! Congrats Jodi!

Permanent Make-up.

ANGELA CASTELL
Registered Massage Therapist
Angela is one of the newest members
of the Sunshrine team having joined us in April 2007. After graduating from Sir Sandford
Fleming College’s 3-year massage therapy program and passing the Ontario
provincial board exam, Angela became an official licensed member of the
College of Massage Therapists of Ontario. Through her commitment to continuing education Angela has
received countless hours of instruction in both Canada and the United
States. While her expertise lies
in the area of massage therapy and body treatments, she also has received
training in several different fields that make up the spa industry
including aromatherapy, intense pulse light, as well as some salon and
esthetics training.
Angela is a healer by nature. When asked why she is so passionate
about massage she replied “It gives me great pleasure to know that
because I was able to alleviate Mrs. Smith’s pain that she was able to
go and enjoy her son’s baseball game.
It’s the greatest gift in the world to know that you have made a
positive difference in someone’s life.”
In the past four years while working
as a Massage Therapist, Angela has had a variety of experiences ranging
from working in a world-renowned spa to operating a small business from he
home. She chose to come to
Sunshrine because of its hometown feel and friendly reputation, a place
she can make a difference, a place she can belong. Come see Angela at Sunshrine and let her make a positive

MELISSA GIRARD
Esthetician
Melissa joined the Sunshrine crew in
the summer of 2007. She is a graduate of Fleming College - Cobourg Esthetics
Program. Not only is this knowledgeable esthetics program, but
advances the student into the business and health aspect of the industry.
Melissa's favorite aspect of
esthetics is Facials. She loves the way a person can have instant
results and enjoys making them feel relaxed and rejuvenated. Melissa
enjoys doing make-up and adding some colour to peoples lives, but looks
forward to furthering her make-up education. Melissa is an
enthusiastic learner and very keen on learning more about the
industry. She has participated in Plantogen Skin Brightening Course
& Plantogen Hot Stone Massage Course including hot stone facials,
manicure & pedicures, she has also partaken in Qtica & Zoya
product knowledge.

CHRISTINA
McILWAIN
Salon & Marketing Co-ordinator
Christina
has been a part of the Sunshrine team since March 2006. Although she has
no background in Hair or Esthetics, she still remains an important team
member to this thriving Spa & Salon. Christina has an education from
Fanshawe College in Travel and Tourism, and took her career one step
further branching into Event Co-ordinating. Usually upon your visit to
Sunshrine you’ll find her running between front desk and the upstairs
offices. She keeps busy with the Marketing aspects of the spa, & uses
her creativity to maintaining the website, creating monthly specials and
emails, as well as lots of other tasks to keep her busy. Christina
believes the Sunshrine team works hard to make “everyone’s visit to our Spa
and Salon a warm, inviting and comforting experience!”
Education is a staple of the Sunshrine team, & the Co-ordinators are
always involved in furthering their education as well. Christina has
attended plenty of education-based classes in house at Sunshrine as well
as Spa Co-ordinating courses through Toronto’s Metro Academy. She is also
very knowledgeable in SAM & in addition has attended SAMinars on the
program. Christina has her Eufora PHD as well as her Smart Tan
Certificate.
