Pedicures and Foot Care
Did you know we have 7200 nerve endings in the bottom of each foot? These nerve endings connect to all parts of our body. So, a pedicure is a great way to relax. And pedicures are a low cost service at the spa, making them one of the most popular services at Sunshrine.
Our pedicures begin with a good foot soak, followed by a 'dry consultation', a careful check for infections and fungus' or any heavy dry calluses. We cut the toenails and move on to cuticle care. We clip and buff them then use a foot file under the foot on any calluses.
We follow up with a foot massage and of course some fun polish.
For those who have thick calluses which may not be completely removed in one treatment, we recommend taking a foot paddle home with you to help to take down the callous at home, along with an exfoliating scrub to remove dead skin cells. Adding a foot care cream or foam will continue to promote softer feet.
It is often feared that diabetics cannot get a pedicure because they are more prone to infection and as a rule their skin is thinner. This is where our dry consultation helps us to determine problem areas, which allows us to serve even diabetics with a beneficial pedicure.
The line of foot care products used in the spa is specifically recommended for diabetics. As foot care is so important to diabetics, a regular professional pedicure is a great regime for them to follow, and a nice bit of pampering as well!
